Carolina Brothers Ashburn - Local Classic Delivers Solid BBQ

Image
TL;DR - The sides are great and the location is perfect(right next to W&OD); the BBQ seems to be hit or miss though IMAGES IN ORDER:   Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich, Mac and Cheese, Baked Beans, Coleslaw (+ BONUS PRIME ICE POP) (1); Mac and Cheese, Green Beans, Cornbread (2) A couple days ago I went on a bike ride with some friends and stopped by Carolina Brothers Barbeque in Ashburn on the way back from the ride.  We got a ton of food, which has been a part of my uncontrollable food spending spree that has been happening recently(hopefully at the time of writing this, it has stopped).  The service was good(typical for a "fast casual" type since they just loaded up your plate and you went on your way), but the lady that was preparing our food gave me green beans instead of baked beans when I came asking for a side of baked beans.  That did result in me trying another menu item though, so I guess that is a plus. Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich:   I don't really like/eat ...

Crafthouse Reston - If Mid Food Was a Restaurant

Image
TL;DR - Decent atmosphere for a sports bar, the food is pretty okay(mid compared to other places); target audience is mainly middle aged people looking for food and drink IMAGES IN ORDER: Crafthouse Tots, Cowboy Burger Today I went to a friend's local favorite after bartaco had a lengthy wait time.  Crafthouse in Reston Town Center serves up American mainstays in a sports bar atmosphere.  The service was great, however our server called herself stupid multiple times for missing our orders and referenced being blonde as the source(???) It's clear when you go here that the beer and the social atmosphere are what people come for, and not so much the food.  However, the bar food is relatively good. Crafthouse Tots: Comes with tater tots, jalapeños, bacon, and sour cream. To be completely honest -- the tots were kind of trash.  It was clear the only "fresh" thing that was on the plate was the sour cream; you could tell the bacon was from a bag and the tots were so frozen ...

Kabob Bazaar, Arlington VA - Possibly the best Persian restaurant in the DMV

Image
TL;DR - Possibly the best Persian restaurant in the DMV.  While places like Shamshiry and Amoo's are staples within the community, this spot in Arlington is my all-time favorite due to their menu and hospitality -- it made me feel at home.  Solid 9.5/10  IMAGES IN ORDER:  Shirazi Salad, Ash e Anar, Mother's Day Package 2(Tahchin, Baghali Polo, Mahi Sorkh Shodeh, Mahiche, Kookoo Sabzi), Dizi Sangi, Ab Goosht from Dizi Sangi A little while ago I went to Kabob Bazaar in Arlington, my favorite Persian restaurant at this moment.  It was so good, and is a must try if you want to try Persian food. SHIRAZI SALAD:  Salad shirazi (aka Shirazi Salad) is a traditional Persian salad with main components comprised of cucumbers and tomatoes, with sometimes onions—it depends on the restaurant, but it is typically dressed with lime juice and herbs.  It was really good— 8/10. ASH E ANAR:  Ash e Anar is a traditional persian dish which is known as a pomegrana...

Underground Pizza Company Baltimore - Possibly Overhyped?

Image
TL;DR - The food is better hot, and that's where you'll be eating it most of the time.  The pizza was okay, just a little salty at times.  Mozz sticks are properly hyped up, they were really good even after sitting in a car for 2 hours.  solid 7/10, probably 8.5-9+/10 hot, just like all pizzas. Pictures in order - IRL Mozz Sticks, Pepperoni Pizza (*Note:  The pepperoni pizza that we got had sauce on it) NOT PICTURED - Fried Chicken Pizza Sorry for the small hiatus -- grades and all.  A couple weeks ago my parents got some food from Underground Pizza Company in Baltimore while they were in the area, and I got to try it. Mozz Sticks - Great.  The breading was really good, and even at room temperature, the cheese still had a decent pull.  The marinara sauce was relatively sweet, but still savory.  Solid 7/10 room temp, probably a 9/10 hot .  The restaurant says "our mozzarella sticks are cut and breaded by hand and fried to order, accompanied by...

FIRST REVIEW - Lezzet Centreville: Turkish Gem in the middle of a large Korean diaspora community

Image
TL;DR - Great food, order the Adana yogurt and you won't regret it. 8/10 IMAGES IN ORDER:  (1) - Smoked Eggplant Appetizer , (2) - Adana Yogurt Kabob, (3) - Mixed Grill Platter, (4) - Knafeh Bonus Dessert, (5) - Bonus Gong Cha QQ Passionfruit Green Tea Welcome to my Food Blog! This is my first ever review. Yesterday I visited Lezzet in Centreville, their sister location to the main restaurant in Vienna. It was great—I give it a thumbs up. I ordered a couple things, so lets get into it:  SMOKED EGGPLANT APPETIZER(1): The menu describes this appetizer as "chargrilled sliced eggplant, onions, garlic, and cilantro." It was pretty good—the eggplant flavor is prominent in the appetizer, and the you can really taste the smoky flavor.  However, you can sometimes taste the onion more than the eggplant itself; with the pita bread they provide, it was a good precursor to the main course.  Score:  7/10. ADANA YOGURT ENTRÉE(2):  This was the ...
